After the not-so-brief introduction, Takakura leaves you alone to fend for yourself. Your guide on the tour, a crabby farm hand by the name of Takakura, gives you the skinny on just about everything, from the local townsfolk to running the farm to purchasing animals from local merchants. The first thing you do is tour your new farm. Your father has recently passed away and you want to trade city life for something a little more laid back. The game starts with your arrival in Forget-Me-Not-Valley. As such, if you liked Harvest Moon and you haven't played the first GameCube title, then Another Wonderful Life serves up a mean dish of, well, farm life. Balancing finances, animals, plants and kids remains the key to success. Running the farm and raising a family still form the bulk of the game, with all the chores from A Wonderful Life remaining largely unchanged. Yes, you do play as a girl, but the effects on gameplay are minimal at best. Technically, the two games are virtually identical, with little to no differences in gameplay, sound or visuals. If you've played A Wonder Life, then Another Wonderful Life simply doesn't hold much appeal. Only this time, there are even fewer changes. The recent release of Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life, which casts the protagonist as a young girl instead of a boy, follows the same formula. That's the way it has always been in the Harvest Moon universe. To those who loved the series, A Wonder Life remained quirky and undeniably charming. Doing so will kill the crops. The release of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, which shipped last year for the Nintendo GameCube, didn't change the formula. Do not plant any crops in the 8 spaces surrounding the trees. Them multiple times, so they're worth it! Each tree will only produce fruit during one season each year. Trees can be planted at any time of year, but will take a long time until they Most other crops grow in two or more seasons, so they can be crowded together without much worry. Certain crops (such as all the 3rd generation plants and sweet potatoes) can normally only be grown during one season, so I would highly reccomend planting them in a checkerboard pattern. While this greatly reduces the amount of plants you can grow, it has two major advantages: they will grow faster and won't need to be watered as often. One thing you'll notice right away about Vesta's farm is how she plants her crops: they're arranged in a checkerboard pattern. It's best just to chop it down and plant something They all sell seeds and fertilizer.ĪLL crops are non-renewable: even if the plant is still there after you You buy all your seeds at the produce farm next to your farm. Only third generation crops (see the hybrids section) can be sold to town, though. By doing so, crops of regular quality (B) will become A-rank vegetables, some might even become S-rank! They will be worth more money. Your crops more than once a day, and if you can afford it, put down some fertilizer. Sell crops of normal quality to Van, they don't fetch a very high price. You have to be much more careful with your crops, though. All normalĬrops take less than 10 days to grow, anyway. More than one season, so don't worry about the fact that each season is only 10 days. There are quite a few crops in this game, many of them new, and all but one can grow in
